After all this is the show that brought us Carrie Underwood, Katharine McPhee, and my personal favorite Antonella Barba. Amanda Overmyer comes to Idol from Camden Indiana, where she was working as a health care specialist mainly dealing with respiratory issues. She herself does not suffer from respiratory issues as her loud strong voice has been compared to Janis Joplin. In her spare time she rides motorcycles with her family.

Hailing from the great state of Florida, Syesha Mercado, born January 2, 1987 is another Idol contestant who auditioned with an Aretha Franklin song "Think". When not being Idol she attends Florida International University in Miami.

Originally hailing from Ireland but now calling San Diego home, Carly is probably the most experienced of all the Idol contestants. In fact she has already released a major studio album under the name Carly Hennessy. Her record company spent $2 million promoting the album, which went on to sell 400 copies. Clearly she has some redemption on her mind.

This American Idol hopeful sang for the judges in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received three votes to move on. White has worked as a nanny to twin one-year-old girls and claims that she's never seen an "R" rated movie, doesn't drink and doesn't smoke. The 24-year old is from from Van Nuys, California.

One of the brightest stars of the audition phase of Idol, Kristy comes to us from Selma Oregon. Like some her fellow Idolers, she also has had a record contract in the past, when she was just 17. She even made a music video which featured a cameo from Britney Spears. As of late she has been struggling to live up to expectations on idol having come very close to the chopping block on the week of 12.
